“Now it’s a player’s guitar”

I don’t like hearing that. I play all my guitars, none of them live in their cases just to be taken out, polished and gawked at once a month. At the same time I take care of my instruments. I was crushed when this fall/ crack happened at a gig a couple weeks ago. Fortunately Collings returned my call and sent me to Pat DiBurro, check out the magical restorations he does! So I feel a little better. We’ll see how it comes back, and at the least it’s gotten me thinking about what I’ll fall for next.

It’s kind of weird, it came just a week or so after I fell on a snowboard and whacked my wrist on the ice really hard, so both of us are on the mend. ==:::

I often put the cart before the horse.

My amp is a 50 watt half stack, but I’m playing clubs not theaters.

My plans and strategies for my career fill pages and extend years into the future, but often I just overwhelm myself with it all and my motivations are hindered.

I’m always in the process of finishing/ mixing a record that’s overdue (to you, nobody @ french maid music is breathing down my neck), and my mind’s already on the next one.

The horse is looking to make a move to pass the cart this year, but in the spirit of consistency… I’m thinking of making an acoustic album after Old City Blues. It’ll have Stay, some other lovin people type songs, little bit of blues, and some instrumental interludes like this ==:::

Great session Saturday with Aaron, Walt, and dad. We recorded Rollin and Tumblin. Looking to finish it up in the next week or two and get it up online with proceeds from downloads to go to The Tomorrow Fund.

Mixin it Up

Back to mixing so I can get Part II of Old City Blues out as promised. Was referencing against some cowboy music and Aerosmith (pullin off my boots and chaps I’m saddle sore..), and it sounded much more convincing with this hat on the right monitor.

Speaking of Steven Tyler, check out my friends Elise and Erika getting the nod of approval as they progress on American Idol!

Been playing in a lot of different configurations lately. Working on the solo front, French Family Blues Band is recording at the CDIA tomorrow, and have been working up the regular band repertoire with our friend Zac Casher on drums.

What else? Picked this up for some ‘light’ reading. Made my music to-do list for the year after listenin to this guy.
